A snake entered the field for the second time in Lanka Premier League (LPL) during a match between B-Love Kandy and Jaffna Kings on Saturday (August 12).
It happened during Kings’ chase when Kandy pacer Isuru Udana was walking back to the field and was just about to step on the reptile before he noticed the snake on the ground. He got horrified after which he made a quick escape from that position.
Kandy registered an eight-run victory over Kings as they put a total of 178 on the scoreboard. Kings could only score 170 in 20 overs and lost the match.
Pakistan’s Mohammad Haris scored 81 runs for the winning side while no other batter could score more than 30 runs. Fakhar Zaman and Angelo Mathews were the joint-second top scorers with 22 runs.
Kings struggled from the start of their chase. They lost both of their openers just for 10 runs.
Even though Pakistan’s veteran all-rounder Shoaib Malik scored 55 off 37 but that could not be enough as Kendy’s Mathews took three important wickets.
Haris was named the Player of the Match for single-handedly taking his team to a great total of 178.
Despite many great knocks and dismissals, it was a snake that became the highlight of the match.
However, this was not the first a snake entered the field in LPL.
Earlier in July, a snake was seen moving quickly on the field during the match between Galle Titans and Dambulla Aura.
Five teams B-Love Kandy, Colombo Strikers, Dambulla Aura, Galle Titans, and Jaffna Kings are participating in the cricket tournament.
